Greystoke Mahale is situated in Mahale Mountains National Park, a mountainous forest island on the eastern shore of Lake Tanganyika, and the lodge itself is situated on Kangwena beach on the edge of the lake at the base of the Mahale Mountains.
Accommodation
6 double-bandas set on the edge of the forest at the base of the mountains, looking out over a wide beach across the waters of the lake. Every banda has its own en-suite bathroom, set just behind the bedroom, with hot and cold running water, flush toilets and powerful showers. They also have an upstairs 'chill-out' deck, accessible from the side by a wooden canoe 'ladder'.
Facilities
Dinners and ice cold cocktails are served in the spacious torch-lit mess tent at the water's edge, or on a 50-foot mahogany dhow on the waters of Lake Tanganyika.
The cosy bar is perched on the rocks of the northern headland with stepped decks leading down to the water's edge.
