Early morning game drives down into the crater, with all its amazing wildlife in a spectacular setting, are a real highlight of any stay here. For many visitors to Tanzania, this is a good opportunity to spot the elusive black rhinoceros who call this place home – along with 25,000 other animals.
Listen for a lion’s roar or an approaching elephant’s sound. Perhaps a buffalo will favor you with a visit? The park is a real treasure, and this camp is positioned perfectly to let you enjoy it fully.
Ang’ata Camp Ngorongoro has eight guest tents that feature an en suite bathroom with a flush toilet and hot water shower.
Tents can be configured as a double with a king-size bed or two beds for a twin. Triple rooms are also available.
Our kitchen team crafts delicious meals prepared daily using Tanzanian ingredients to create African and international cuisine. Guests will also love the daily baked bread straight from the nearby bush oven.
The camp can gladly cater to special dietary requirements such as vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free – just let us know in advance! European and South African wines are available to accompany your meals.

The camp is located on the eastern side of the Ngorongoro Crater rim. This makes it ideal for early morning visits into this most spectacular setting for game viewing. Over 25,000 animals call this crater their home, including the black rhino!
From Arusha city by road, the journey to the camp is around 190 kilometers or 4 hours. An alternative is to take an internal flight from Arusha or Kilimanjaro airports to Lake Manyara Airstrip, where you can be transferred by vehicle to the camp, which is only a 60-minute flight and one hour drive from the airstrip to the lodge.
There are many options near the camp. For example, you might choose to descend into the lesser-known, spectacular Empakaai Crater on a day hike (2 hours drive from camp to Empakaai crater), visit a Maasai Village to learn about their culture, take a donkey ride with the locals, or do a crater rim walk with an armed ranger. You could also enjoy a bush lunch on the crater floor. You could even celebrate your wedding or vow renewal in Maasai style. Just book in advance through our reservations office.
The camp is in a wonderful setting, but as it is amongst shady acacia trees, there are no actual crater views from the camp itself.
No, as the solar power system in operation at the camp does not provide enough power for hairdryers and other high-energy devices.
You can only charge devices in the communal lounge, not in guest tents.
Guests are always advised to drink bottled water at the camp and use the water in the taps for showers and washing. Use bottled water for cleaning your teeth, too.
Free Wi-fi is available in public areas.
Yes, there is an outdoor fireplace at the camp. From the nearby seating area, guests can enjoy watching the passing wildlife.
Yes, with advance notice, we can cater to most dietary requirements. Angela Camp Ngorongoro will be able to cater to these, and we recommend that you stress your needs on arrival at the camp.
A ‘tipping box’ is available if you want to give a gratuity and any tips received are then shared amongst the camp staff. We advise that you make your contribution at the time of your checkout.
Each guest tent contains one king-size or two twin beds, protected by mosquito nets. Other features are:

At the extra cost and with pre-booking, the following can be arranged: Walking safaris, wedding celebrations, and private bush lunches/dinners.
