Easy Travel Kilimanjaro safety precautions
COVID-19 standard operating procedures
At Easy Travel, we have developed strict Standard Operating Procedures in response to coronavirus (COVID-19). Our staff are all trained in these operating procedures and conform to them in their day-to-day work at Easy Travel. This minimises the risk to our clients when they visit Tanzania.
Highly trained mountain guides
Easy Travel’s Mountain guides are highly experienced professionals, fully trained to minimise the chances of our climbers getting altitude sickness. Their experience also allows them to detect the symptoms and to treat them accordingly, something that comes from guiding around 2,000 climbers every year.
Daily health checks using pulse oximeter
Although our expert mountain guides will be monitoring you for symptoms throughout each day’s climb, they will also carry out formal health checks twice per day, using a piece of equipment known as a pulse oximeter to monitor both your oxygen saturation and pulse rate.
Lake Louise scoring system
Our mountain guides also administer the world-respected Lake Louise Scoring System (LLSS) to help determine whether you are exhibiting any of the symptoms of altitude sickness and, if so, the severity of those symptoms.
First aid certified
All of our mountain guides are properly certified First Aiders. They are therefore equipped with the appropriate knowledge and self-confidence to assess, evaluate and take decisions in respect of climbers’ welfare, when and where it matters – that’s out on the mountain. This includes the decision to descend and evacuate, should that become necessary.
Emergency bottled Oxygen
Our mountain team staff carries bottled oxygen on all our Kilimanjaro climbs and are fully trained on how and when to administer it. This is vital for any climber suffering from either moderate or severe altitude sickness.
Emergency First Aid Kit
To help with any minor injuries such as cuts, scrapes, abrasions or blisters, a first aid kit is part of the mountain team’s equipment on all of our climbs.
