The Marangu route is one of Kilimanjaro’s easiest and most popular routes. On this route, trekkers have an easy ascent.

If you’d like to take the route with the highest possible chance of summiting, then the Lemosho and Machame routes are the best.

These routes offer longer days on the mountain (7 to 8 days), making them excellent for acclimatization. Hence, it makes summit night less difficult.

Since Marangu is among the most popular choices due to its ease of climb, you can expect that it is often a busy route that can get crowded.

Often called the Coca-Cola Route, the Marangu route is deemed the easiest way up to Kilimanjaro in terms of gradient and terrain.

The Marangu route has been notably known as the “Coca-Cola” route since you can buy a Coca-Cola at each hut. This route approaches Kili’s summit from the southeast.

Overall, Marangu is a relatively easy route with fewer steps to climb. That said, its acclimatization is mediocre.

Although known as the easiest route to Kilimanjaro’s summit, there are several considerations you have to make before choosing the Marangu route for your Kili climb.

Due to its shorter trekking days, Marangu is less scenic than other Kili routes. This is usually because you ascend and descend on the same path.

Given that Marangu is one of Kilimanjaro’s shortest routes, it’s no wonder it has a relatively poor acclimatization account. Hence, its summit success is low.
