After breakfast in Nairobi, we set off towards Lake Nakuru, a drive of about 3.5 hours. Along the way, we pass through the Great Rift Valley, stopping briefly to take in the views before continuing. As we enter the park, the landscape changes to acacia woodland and lakeshore, known for its rich birdlife. This safari can be enjoyed throughout the year. The dry seasons generally offer good wildlife viewing, while the Great Migration usually reaches the Maasai Mara between July and October, depending on rainfall and wildlife movements.
