Chem chem Lodge

Chem Chem Lodge is located on the eastern side of Lake Manyara. It is around 120km or less than a two-hour drive from Arusha Airport. Or you can fly with a domestic flight from the Arusha or Kilimanjaro airport to Kuros Airstrip, which is 66 kilometers or 1 hour 30 minutes away from Camp.

Guests can check in from 14.00 hours and must check out by 10.00 hours.

Guests can arrange the following activities:

• Game drives
• Walking with the Maasai tribesmen
• Sundowners on the Lake Manyara shore

The rooms feature indoor & outdoor showers, fans, mosquito nets, a safe, a hairdryer, and a telephone.

Children aged four years and older are welcome at the Chem Chem Lodge. Each suite can accommodate two adults and one child. The lodge’s family suite has two bedrooms and two bathrooms and can accommodate two adults and up to 3 children (aged 16 or under.) Guests can hire the whole lodge for their exclusive use, in which case children of all ages are welcome. Please note that all children must be accompanied by parents/guardians on safari activities.

The sundowner experience at Chem Chem Lodge takes place on the shores of peaceful Lake Manyara. You can watch the sunset and marvel as the first stars appear in the unpolluted sky above.

A walk with the Maasai is a wonderful thing to do as you accompany these warriors through the bush and discover how they live with the wildlife – and how they have done so for centuries.

Chem Chem Lodge is open to wildlife, but the security guards operate round the clock, so it is safe for guests.

Guests can use the pool, and there are also yoga mats available. There is also a fitness center.

Guests will find Wi-fi in the main public areas and all suites. The connection speed is variable.

Guests are always advised to drink bottled water at Chem Chem Lodge and use the water in the taps for showers and washing. Use bottled water for cleaning your teeth, too.

A ‘tipping box’ is available if you want to give a gratuity and any tips received are then shared amongst the lodge staff. We ask you not to tip staff individually unless there has been exceptional service. We advise that you make your contribution at the time of your check-out.

It is useful to arrive at Chem Chem Lodge with sufficient cash to pay for extra drinks and staff gratuities. Banknotes such as 5-dollar, 10-dollar, and 20-dollar bills are best. Poor network coverage in the parking area may mean the card machine is not always working. Most of the time, you can use US Dollars in Tanzania, particularly in tourist areas, and major credit cards are accepted at most hotels, lodges, and camps. However, we advise having some local currency on you if you want to purchase from a local shop. Major towns and airports have forex bureaus where you can exchange most major currencies such as US Dollars, British Pounds, Euros, etc.

A limited laundry service is available for guests who stay more than one night. Please hand it to us as soon as you arrive, as everything is air-dried, and we cannot guarantee it will be completely dry on its return, especially between June and September.
