FAQs for andBeyond Serengeti under Canvas

You have questions, many questions. With over 35 years of experience, we at Easy Travel believe we have the answers.

As a portable camp, our location changes throughout the year as it follows the Great Migration. Guest can take a scheduled flight from Arusha to whichever airstrip is closest to the camp’s current location (Seronera, Ndutu, Grumeti or Kogatende airstrips). On arrival, there will be a short vehicle transfer to the camp.

Yes, our camps are portable, so they can attempt to follow the seasonal movements of the Great Migration, ensuring that our guests get the best experience of the migrating wildebeest and their prey. There are also many resident species to see.

The cost of a stay will depend on the dates of your stay and the number of guests. Please get in touch with us directly for prices.
Our tents are available in single, double, twin, triple, or family.

Included in the rates are your accommodation, three daily meals, all drinks (except premium brands, champagne, etc.), limited laundry service, Wildchild children’s program, and emergency medical evacuation insurance.

In addition, soft drinks on game drives, use of binoculars, and twice-daily game drives are included for those guests on a ‘game package.’

Yes, the &BEYOND Serengeti Under Canvas caters to families, with a family tent provided.

Free wi-fi is available in the rooms and the main public area.

Yes, there is an outdoor fireplace, which the staff will light in the evening. You can enjoy a refreshing drink here.

The following can be arranged at the camp, some at extra cost: game drives, balloon safari, bush dinner, bush lunch, yoga, and sundowner.

Amenities in our guest tents include free wi-fi, hot water, walkie-talkie radio, power socket, shower, en suite with shower and flush toilet, insect repellent & air freshener, toiletries, mosquito net, tea/coffee tray. There is a fan, but please note that there is no air conditioning.

Guests are always advised to drink bottled water at the camp and use the water in the taps for showers and washing. Use bottled water for cleaning your teeth, too.

A limited laundry service is available and is included in the camp rate.

.

Yes, with advance notice, we can cater to most dietary requirements. &BEYOND Serengeti Under Canvas will be able to cater to these, and we recommend that you stress your needs on arrival at the camp.

Gratuities are entirely discretionary. A ‘tipping box’ is available if you want to give a gratuity and any tips received are then shared amongst the lodge staff. We advise that you make your contribution at the time of your checkout.

No, as the tents are fully sealed.

Yes, the &BEYOND Serengeti Under Canvas does provide hot water for showers.

It is useful to arrive at the lodge with sufficient cash to pay for extra drinks and staff gratuities. Banknotes such as 5-dollar, 10-dollar, and 20-dollar bills are best. Poor network coverage in the park may mean the card machine is not always working. Most of the time, you can use US Dollars in Tanzania, particularly in tourist areas, and major credit cards are accepted at most hotels, lodges, and camps. However, we advise having some local currency on you if you want to purchase from a local shop. Major towns and airports have forex bureaus where you can exchange most major currencies such as US Dollars, British Pounds, Euros, etc.

A balloon safari is a truly unique way to view our wildlife. It lasts between 45 minutes and one hour, depending on the wind. It is available to those seven years and older. It involves an early start, around 3 am, to allow the balloon to take off around 6 am. A third-party company will run the trip, and you will celebrate with a glass of champagne and a full English breakfast. You will also be given a certificate. Please get in touch with us  for prices and advice on how to fit this into your schedule. We will be happy to arrange this exciting trip for you.

Game drives, balloon safari, bush lunch/bush dinner, excursions (for example, Olduvai Gorge and shifting sands, or to Lake Victoria), open-air dining, and stargazing.(Note: these are mostly at extra cost)

Room amenities include a personal bar, en suite bathroom, safe, separate toilet, indoor sitting area, and ‘His and Hers’ al fresco bucket-style showers.

There is a central recharging station in our camp. British-style plug type ‘G’ – is required.

Being a portable/mobile camp, our environmental impact is low. We use a battery inverter system during 50% of our operational hours; we have reduced our use of plastic water bottles by using instead purified water in glass bottles.
