The lodge is 190 km from Arusha or 4 hours by road. Alternatively, you can fly into the Lake Manyara Airstrip by taking an internal flight from Arusha Airport or Kilimanjaro International Airport.
Guests can choose from one suite or twin rooms, doubles, or triples. Each room has a private terrace looking down to the crater floor.

Having your bush breakfast on the unique crater floor is an unbelievable experience. After being woken up with a hot drink, guests will set off with their driver-guide down into the crater. First, you will be taken on a game drive through ancient trees and forests of acacia before reaching the carefully selected location for an amazing cooked breakfast. Afterward, the game drive continues along the route, visiting lakes, forests, and plains – and encountering the incredible wildlife. Perhaps you will see a black rhino!
With a nod towards the tradition of the safaris of 100 years ago, the sundowner experience involves sipping tasty cocktails in the incredible setting of the Tanzanian sunset. You will be driven to a wonderful location on the crater rim. Sitting in a chair, sipping a cocktail, nibbling a snack… what better way to finish an unforgettable day as the sun goes down, perhaps with a musical accompaniment?
Yes, Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge does organize a crater lunch activity, and Many guests like to lunch on the crater floor, which maximizes the game-viewing experience. Game-viewing takes place before and after, and lunch can either be a picnic or a full, cooked experience.
It is, but this is a summer-only activity. With great views down into the crater, this will be organized on the rim and take place around sunset. Tables, chairs, and lights will be provided, and an atmospheric campfire will add to this amazing experience. Entertainment will be provided by Maasai dancing and singing. A five-course dinner is provided from the charcoal BBQ, and most dietary needs can be accommodated. A full bar service is there to accompany your experience.

Due to the high altitude, the Ngorongoro region can be cold – sometimes dropping to 6 degrees Celsius.
It is strongly advised to bring some warm clothing, especially for the chilly evenings: a fleece or lightweight jacket, light raincoat, or windproof jacket. Easy-to-wash clothes are advised, as drying can be an issue: long pants/trousers, long sleeve shirts.
