Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge

Guests have two choices when deciding how to get to the lodge. The first option is to fly into Arusha Airport or Kilimanjaro International Airport, stay overnight in Arusha City, and then be driven 355 kilometers or 8 hours to the lodge.

Alternatively, guests can avoid the bumpy Tanzanian roads by taking an internal flight from Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport to the Seronera Airstrip, which is only 90 minutes flight and a 40-minute drive from the airstrip to the lodge.

The Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge is deep in the heart of Central Serengeti. The Seronera River provides a constant water source for residents and visiting wildlife, including various colorful bird species. The dense riverine landscape forest along the river provides excellent cover for the predatory leopard. The lodge is unfenced, and wildlife has free access, so animal visits are not unknown. The lodge’s super-central location also means guests can start their daily game drives early to get the most from their safari experience.

Yes, there is an outdoor fireplace close to the bar area, which the staff will light in the evening. You can enjoy a refreshing drink here.

The following can be arranged at the lodge, some at extra cost: game drives, balloon safari, bush dinner, bush lunch, yoga, spa/massage, hiking, evening entertainment, and sundowner.

Amenities in our guest rooms include free Wi-fi, hot water, internal phone, en suite with shower, extra-long beds, bathrobes, toiletries, mosquito net, tea/coffee tray, 24-hour electricity, fan, hairdryer, and private balcony.

Guests are always advised to drink bottled water at the lodge and use the water in the taps for showers and washing. Use bottled water for cleaning your teeth, too.

Yes, with advance notice, we can cater to most dietary requirements. Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge will be able to cater to these, and we recommend that you stress your needs on arrival at the lodge.

A ‘tipping box’ is available if you want to give a gratuity and any tips received are then shared amongst the lodge staff. We advise that you make your contribution at the time of your check-out.

Yes, the Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge does provide hot water for showers.

It is useful to arrive at the lodge with sufficient cash to pay for extra drinks and staff gratuities. Banknotes such as 5-dollar, 10-dollar, and 20-dollar bills are best. Poor network coverage in the park may mean the card machine is not always working. Most of the time, you can use US Dollars in Tanzania, particularly in tourist areas, and major credit cards are accepted at most hotels, lodges, and camps. However, we advise having some local currency on you if you want to purchase from a local shop. Major towns and airports have forex bureaus where you can exchange most major currencies such as US Dollars, British Pounds, Euros, etc.

The staff speaks English, Spanish, French, and Swahili.
