Every day at the Serengeti Tortilis Camp feels like a lifetime of highlights. Our guests marvel at the camp we have created in the middle of the phenomenal Serengeti National Park. Our location is perfect for exploring the natural wonders of Serengeti.
World-class hospitality awaits you here, as well as a standard of cuisine that will surprise you, given our location. Enjoy a sundowner around the campfire and swap stories with your fellow travelers. Most of all, be overwhelmed by the warm welcome from the camp staff.
You could be forgiven for thinking our guest tents are actually hotel rooms – they really are that comfortable. Our attention to detail covers everything, from design to the quality of the materials used to maintenance. We even make the tents ourselves!
Inside, you’ll find an en suite with shower, flush toilet, mosquito nets, hot water, high-quality fabrics, tasteful East African décor, toiletries, power socket, and free wi-fi. Everything, in fact, for the perfect wilderness stay.
Our kitchen team works magic to create sumptuous breakfasts featuring fresh fruit, yogurts, cereals, cold meat, cheese, omelets, eggs, croissants, cakes, and much more—the perfect start to any day.
Our packed lunches are a real treat, while dinners might include local specialties, pasta, fish, chicken, vegetable bakes, and salads. A bush dinner, intimately enjoyed beneath the stars, is recommended. All special diets can be accommodated with notice.

Guests have two choices when deciding how to get to the camp. The first option is to fly into either Arusha Airport or Kilimanjaro International Airport, stay overnight in Arusha City, and then be driven 335 kilometers or 8 hours to the camp. Many guests choose to stay either at the Lake Manyara Tortilis Camp or the Ngorongoro Tortilis Camp for a night en route to Central Serengeti if they choose this road option.
Alternatively, guests can avoid the bumpy Tanzanian roads by taking an internal flight from Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport to the Seronera Airstrip, a 90-minute flight and 30 minutes drive from Airstrip to the camp.
In short, yes! The camp is unfenced, and wildlife has free access, so visits are not unknown. The camp’s super-central location also means guests can make an early start to their daily game drives to get the most from their safari experience.
The cost of a stay will depend on the dates of your stay and the number of guests. Please get in touch with us directly for prices.

Yes, the Serengeti Tortilis Camp caters to families, with one family tent available to accommodate a maximum of five family members. There is a king-size bed in the first room, then a partition separating the second room with a bunk bed and a single bed. The family room also has two showers and one toilet.
Free wi-fi is available in the rooms and some public areas.
Yes, there is an outdoor fireplace, which the staff will light in the evening. You can enjoy a refreshing drink here.

Amenities in our guest tents include free wi-fi, hot water, walkie-talkie radio, power socket, shower, en suite with shower and flush toilet, insect repellent & air freshener, toiletries, mosquito net. Please note there is no air conditioning.
Battery-powered solar energy is used at the camp. Power is available throughout the night so that you can flick a switch for light, etc., at any time – just like at home! In Tanzania, we use type D and G sockets, the same as in the UK. In addition, every tent has sockets by the bed, at the writing desk, and in the bathroom. With these, you can plug in a USB, phone, laptop, tablet, electric razor, or other devices for charging.
Guests are always advised to drink bottled water at the camp and use the water in the taps for showers and washing.
At an extra cost, laundry service is available at the camp. However, it is only suitable when guests stay more than one night at the camp to ensure that the clothes have enough time to dry.
Yes, with advance notice, we can cater to most dietary requirements. Serengeti Tortilis Camp can cater to these, and we recommend that you stress your needs on arrival.
A ‘tipping box’ is available if you want to give a gratuity and any tips received are then shared amongst the camp staff. We advise that you make your contribution at the time of your check-out.
Yes. In addition, the camp tents are fully zipped tight with two robust front flaps with large zips from top to bottom. These zippers must be shut at least once during the day and at night. The flaps do not have and do not need locks, and staff will also make sure the flaps are kept zipped closed. During your dinner, staff will spray the Guest Tents with mosquito repellent. We advise you also to bring your mosquito repellent.
Yes, the Serengeti Tortilis Camp does provide hot water for showers. Hot showers are available upon request in advance. A little notice is required so the camp manager can arrange this for you. Each tent has a flush toilet and a mixer tap with hot and cold water.
At the camp, it is useful to arrive with sufficient cash to pay for extra drinks and staff gratuities. Banknotes such as 5-dollar, 10-dollar, and 20-dollar bills are best. Poor network coverage in the park may mean the card machine is not always working. Most of the time, you can use US Dollars in Tanzania, particularly in tourist areas, and major credit cards are accepted at most hotels, lodges, and camps. However, we advise having some local currency on you if you want to purchase from a local shop. Major towns and airports have forex bureaus where you can exchange most major currencies such as US Dollars, British Pounds, Euros, etc.
A balloon safari is a truly unique way to view our wildlife. It lasts between 45 minutes and one hour, depending on the wind. It is available to those seven years and older. It involves an early start, around 3 am, to allow the balloon to take off around 6 am. The age limit for this activity is seven years and above. A third-party company will run the trip, and you will celebrate with a glass of champagne and a full English breakfast. You will also be given a certificate. Please get in touch with us for prices and advice on how to fit this into your schedule. We will be happy to arrange this exciting trip for you.
Although there are no real concerns over the security of valuables, we provide a padlocked box for your comfort. For example, the box is large enough to accommodate a bag or a large camera lens.
