From Arusha Airport to the Hatari Lodge is 65 kilometers or 1-hour and 30 minutes drive, while from Kilimanjaro International Airport, the lodge is a 55 kilometers or 50 minutes drive.
Hatari Lodge is 55km or 90 minutes from the center of Arusha.
The main attraction is the nearby Arusha National Park. This beautiful park is often overlooked, but although smaller than some, it is home to many species of wildlife, such as buffalo, giraffe, Colobus monkeys, and many more. It is also the setting for the beautiful Momella lakes, where flamingos are often seen among the many bird species.
Guests at the lodge can enjoy great views over Mount Meru.
As it is within the Arusha National Park, guests might see giraffes, buffalo, zebra, various antelope species, birds, and monkeys.

Several activities are available at the Hatari Lodge (most at extra cost): Private game drives, walking safaris, trekking, canoeing on the Momella Lakes, waterfall excursions (with picnic), and bush breakfasts.
Guests can take the full-day trek to the Kitoto Viewpoint (2500m), passing across the savannah and through dense forest and returning via the Tululusia Waterfall. An alternative is a full-day hike with a descent down into the Ngurdoto Crater, with plenty of wildlife to see.
The game drive is within the Arusha National Park, visiting the rock formations, the Ngurdoto Crater, and the Ngongongare Springs.
The lodge runs on solar power.
