Marafiki Bungalows

The Marafiki Bungalows is in Kiwengwa, on the north-east coast, located 40km, or a one-hour drive from the airport. The ferry terminal is 35km or 50 minutes from the hotel.

Yes, children are welcome at the Marafiki Bungalows, and there are amenities to suit their needs. Marafiki Bungalows has a shallow children’s pool and a sandpit. There are also buckets and spades! Children’s dishes are on the menu, and baby cots are available upon request

Guests can check in to the Marafiki Bungalows from 15.00 hours and should check out by 12.00 hours.

Guests at the Marafiki Bungalows can choose from four rooms: a Honeymoon Suite or a Double, a Triple, or a Family Room.

Each room at the Marafiki Bungalows has a large double bed protected by mosquito netting. Furniture is handcrafted locally. Other features include free Wi-Fi, views of the ocean or the hotel garden, a covered terrace, a room safe, a fridge (with free bottled water daily,) a kettle, and tea. Some rooms are air-conditioned.

The Marafiki Bungalows provides vegan and vegetarian cuisine and children’s menus. Cuisine varies from Western-style to local favorites. Please give us advance notice of any special needs or allergies.

Guests at the Marafiki Bungalows can enjoy several activities, services, and excursions (note that extra charges may apply). These include snorkeling, diving, fishing, massage, yoga, kite-surfing, windsurfing, canoeing, cooking classes, trips to either Stone Town (a UNESCO World Heritage Site,) Jozani Forest National Park, a sunset cruise, Safari Blue (to explore the Menai Bay conservation area,) Prison Island (to see giant tortoises,) Mtende Beach, Spice Farm, Butterfly Center, visit caves, Cheetah’s Rock, Paje Seaweed Center, cycling. Hiking safaris, quad trips, and safaris, as well as trips to the Nakupenda Isles or Mnarani Turtle Sanctuary, can also be arranged. Special private dinners can be organized, and there is a games room with billiards and darts. There’s also a children’s playground.

Unfortunately, the tap water at the Marafiki Bungalows is not safe for drinking. Please use bottled mineral water for drinking or when brushing your teeth.
