Bologonya Under Canvas Tented Camp relocates three times per year to follow all the stages of the Great Migration. From December to March, the camp bases itself in the southern plains; then, from June to July, the camp moves to the western corridor before relocating to the north from August to November.
Bologonya Under Canvas Tented Camp is small, with only ten spacious tents. This is perfect for those who like to explore some of the less-visited parts of the marvelous Serengeti.
Its intimate, exclusive ambiance characterizes Bologonya Under Canvas Tented Camp. With only ten double tents and one tent suitable for families, guests will enjoy the genuine sensation of being on an old-style safari.
Comfort is to the fore, and the camp staff is working hard to deliver first-class service and excellent food to make your stay memorable. And it’s not unusual for the wildlife -especially buffalo – to pay a visit!
A buffet breakfast at Bologonya Under Canvas Tented Camp is the perfect way to begin the day, enjoyed inside the canvas dining- tent or outside, weather permitting. The tent can be opened up to let the gentle Tanzanian breeze waft in and let you enjoy views of the plains.
The tent awning protects you from the sun as you await your meals. A private dinner can be set up for something more intimate.

Please note that not all activities are available in all three of the camp’s locations: Jeep safari, sundowners, sunrise breakfast, balloon safari (South location only), visit the Moru and Maasai Kopjes (West location only), Mara River (North location only), Lake Ndutu (South location only), cultural walks/visits to a Maasai Village.
Yes, there is a campfire area where the fire is lit in the evenings.
The Bolongonya sector is east of the Mara, in the extreme northern part of the Serengeti. The migrating herds usually pass through rather than lingering here, but there is a good population of resident animals. It is also possible to visit the Mara area from here, too.
Certainly, the camp welcomes children of all ages.
Electricity is provided by solar power.
Guests are always advised to drink bottled water at the camp and use the water in the taps for showers and washing. Use bottled water for cleaning your teeth, too. Bottled water is available from the bar and is included in the rate.
A ‘tipping box’ is available if you want to give a gratuity and any tips received are then shared amongst the camp staff. We advise that you make your contribution at the time of your check-out. Tips can be made in Tanzanian Shillings, US Dollars, Euros, or Pound Sterling.
