This unusual combination of a luxury lodge and Eco science center and luxury lodge can be found in the northeast part of Tarangire National Park, 20 km south of Makuyuni village. Eco science Science Center and luxury lodge is positioned north of its 80 hectares of land, which adjoins a migration route used by elephants, zebra, and many others.
Guests here can choose between boutique lodge rooms or scientists’ tents. Please note that the surrounding area is vulnerable to fire outbreaks, so smoking is not permitted here.
Eco science center and luxury lodge is Spanish-designed, yet the influences taken from the traditional Maasai hut are easy to see.
Each of the six rooms is spacious and has a large, furnished terrace. Views across the valley to the Radilen Hills are an attractive feature, and the rooms all have an en suite bathroom (with shower and toilet), comfortable seats, and minimalist, modern styling.
The eco science center and luxury lodge restaurant opens outdoors, allowing guests to relax, dine and watch as wildlife visit the nearby watering hole. There are comfortable seating areas, a bar, and welcoming fireplaces in this lovely communal area.
The cuisine is delicious – a fusion of French, Mediterranean, and Belgian, plentiful and nicely presented. Vegetarian and other dietary requirements can be satisfied with advance notice.

Yes, guests will enjoy views of the two volcanoes of Mounts Hanang and Kwaraha, the Tarangire Hills and the Radilen Hills, Loikisale Hill, and Monduli and Meru volcanoes. On a few occasions, you might even glimpse snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro.
Guests can choose between rooms in the lodge or the scientists’ tents (subject to availability).
Each of the six en suite lodge bedrooms has a king-size bed, with the possibility of an extra single bed; each has a shower, toilet, and sink. Toiletries are provided, there is a furnished terrace with great views, and the rooms are well-spaced apart for privacy.
The eight tented rooms are inside the Science Center, on a concrete floor, and have twin beds. Two have a king-size bed, and triples/quads can be requested. Each tent has a shower, toilet, and sink, and toiletries are provided. Each has a furnished terrace.
Ecoscience science center and luxury lodge do not accept children under ten.
Ecoscience science center and luxury lodge is powered via solar panels (for electricity, hot water, etc.) with backup generators. Please do not use either hair dryers or electrical razors!
Water is supplied from the lodge’s borehole, and you are requested to use it sparingly! Water-saver devices are fitted to the showers and taps, with hot water created by solar panels and backup generators.
The tap water is of good quality at Eco science science center and luxury lodge; However, please do not use the tap water for drinking or brushing your teeth. We recommend that you use bottled mineral water for those purposes. You can also get bottled mineral water from the bar.
Please note that Eco science science center and luxury lodge does not accept any credit card payments. It is advisable to bring sufficient cash in small bills, either in Tanzanian shillings or USD.
Free Wi-fi is available in the Main Scientist Tent and is accessible to all our guests. It can also be accessed in most scientists’ tents but not in the lodge rooms.
Visitors can stay in the scientists’ tents in the science center if rooms are available. There may also be opportunities to help scientists with their work. Please get in touch with us in advance regarding this.
Occasionally, there may be talks of a scientific/educational nature for guests to attend. It is also possible to take a cultural visit to the local Maasai village. Guided nature walks with a Maasai tribe member can also be undertaken.
There is no swimming pool because this is a dry area with very little rainfall.
Yes, Eco science science center and luxury lodge is wheelchair-accessible, but we would ask you to contact us in advance to discuss your individual needs.
As wild animals are present – potentially – at all times, guests must remain inside certain designated areas for their safety. After sunset, guests must be escorted by the lodge personnel or one of the Maasai security guards.
