Just 30km off the Tanzanian mainland lies stunning Fanjove Island, an incredible place surrounded by coral reefs and clear waters. Perfect beaches of pristine white sands complete the picture of this island paradise.
Like Robinson Crusoe, you will have the island almost to yourself…apart from the hotel staff at Fanjove Island. The clear sea water contains life, dolphin, green turtles, and huge humpback whales. The island provides the ideal location for a relaxing stay and the perfect place for a range of delightful activities.
The ten beach villas - bands – at Fanjove Island are positioned by the seashore, constructed with reverence for the fragile, beautiful environment. The A-framed bands are open at the front, with uninterrupted ocean views – even better enjoyed from the upstairs balcony.
Natural materials such as sustainable wood, Mukti (palm leaves), and thatch minimize the environmental impact. Simple, stylish, and comfortable, the accommodation provides the perfect base from which to explore the island, shores, and seas.
After adventure or relaxation, the open-air restaurant and lounge area at Fanjove Island are the venues to end a perfect day. You can dine beneath the starry African skies, enjoying the delicious fusion cuisine at your table on the beach.
The cuisine draws on the influences of the island’s heritage, featuring tasty curries or freshly caught fish of the day. For a special experience, sip on a sundowner at the top of the island’s 19th-century lighthouse.
