Each of the twenty spacious guest tents is raised on a wooden platform with a makuti (palm-frond) roof that protects it. En-suite bathrooms have a shower, flush toilet, and an additional outside shower. A private, furnished balcony allows great viewing.
Mosquito netting is provided, and guest amenities include free Wi-fi, a safe, a mini-fridge, and a ceiling fan; electricity is round-the-clock. Colors reflect African themes, and guests choose from doubles, twins, or triples.
The lodge offers a swimming pool (under construction), children’s pool, 24-hour reception, laundry service, a souvenir shop, viewing deck.
Guests can choose from double, twin, triple, or family rooms.
Each tent has mosquito nets, mineral water, a fan, solar electricity, an internal phone, Wi-fi, mini-fridge.
The full board rate includes accommodation and three meals per day, coffee, tea, a bottle of drinking water in the room, and free Wi-fi.
There are two suites at the tented lodge, which are great for families or groups of friends. The suites consist of three interconnecting tents, all on one platform. Each of these tented rooms has its entrance, an en-suite bathroom with a flush toilet, a shower (a second shower is outside), a private balcony, and the same facilities as in the other guest tents.
Guests with lesser mobility can use a ramp to access one of the tents in each suite.
The lodge uses solar power for its electricity, with a backup of two standby generators and investors.
At extra cost, the following can be arranged: special dinner under the stars, in a Maasai boma (enclosure), bush lunch, sundowner experience, game drive, walking safari, guided nature walk.
With a warming campfire, an African sky full of twinkling stars, and a genuine Maasai-built boma decorated by the local womenfolk, the special boma dinner is a memorable occasion. The Maasai are an integral part of the landscape here, as integral as the wildlife, so embracing and including them is important. Their jewelry and crafts are for sale in the lodge boutique.
A walking safari is a way to add an extra dimension to a safari experience, best undertaken in the early morning or late afternoon when the temperature has dropped. Staying close to the lodge, your walk is guided and escorted by an armed ranger for safety. You get close to nature in this way, learning so much about all the wildlife and vegetation. Up close and personal, you can learn more than you can even from a safari vehicle. Normally this walk will last around 2 ½ hours but can be longer on request.
Our ‘bush’ meals at Lake Ndutu Luxury Tented Lodge are a mix of wilderness and sophistication – all the things you might expect in a proper restaurant (chairs, tables, tablecloth, proper crockery, glassware, cutlery), all overseen by a skilled chef and with service from professional waiters.
You will catch the Ndutu sunset, a spectacular show of color as the golden orb disappears below the horizon. Drinks and snacks are provided on a table under an acacia tree, while guests can relax on the chairs provided—an unforgettable experience.
Solar power and the support of the two standby generators and investors ensure a constant electricity supply to the lodge.
