By air, there are several scheduled flights from Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar to reach the Matambwe airstrip. Guests could also reach the lodge using the TAZARA train from Dar es Salaam. This currently operates twice weekly (Tuesday and Friday,) taking four hours. This train can be delayed, sometimes by a couple of days! The Sable Mountain Lodge is just 10 km from Kisaki and a 6-hour vehicle drive from Dar es Salaam.
Sable Mountain Lodge closes between the end of March and the 1st of June each year. The dry season is from June to the end of October/the start of November.
