Kitela Lodge

There are two ways to arrive at the Kitela Lodge. Guests can fly from Arusha to the Lake Manyara Airstrip by air. These operate daily and take around 30 minutes. The lodge is 35 minute drive from the airstrip.

By road, the distance from Arusha is 151 km, a journey of approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Guests can book either a suite or interconnecting rooms.

The rooms feature the following: seating area, private balcony, coffee/tea-making facilities, bath/shower, telephone, mosquito nets, mineral water, internal phone, and fan.

The lodge is wheelchair accessible, but we recommend calling in advance to discuss specific requirements.

Yes, hairdryers are provided.

A laundry service is available (at extra cost); however, return time will depend on the weather as all items are hand-dried rather than by machine.

Yes, there is, but only in the main public area.

There is a staff who speaks English, French, Spanish, and Swahili at the lodge.

Guests are always advised to drink bottled water at the lodge and use the water in the taps for showers and washing. Use bottled water for cleaning your teeth, too.

Yes, with advance notice, we can cater to most dietary requirements. Kitela Lodge will be able to cater to these, and we recommend that you stress your needs on arrival at the lodge.

A ‘tipping box’ is available if you want to give a gratuity and any tips received are then shared amongst the lodge staff. We advise that you make your contribution at the time of your checkout.

Yes, the rooms have mosquito nets. We advise you also to bring your mosquito repellent.

Yes, the Kitela Lodge provides hot water for showers.

Yhe guided tour takes you around the organic farm and the vegetable garden, allowing you to learn about its operation.

The lodge is well-connected to the local community, which means that you can take a cultural visit to learn about the culture and the ancient traditions of some of our fascinating Tanzanian tribes.

It is useful to arrive at the lodge with sufficient cash to pay for extra drinks and staff gratuities. Banknotes such as 5-dollar, 10-dollar, and 20-dollar bills are best. Poor network coverage in the park may mean the card machine is not always working. Most of the time, you can use US Dollars in Tanzania, particularly in tourist areas, and major credit cards are accepted at most hotels, lodges, and camps. However, we advise having some local currency on you if you want to purchase from a local shop. Major towns and airports have forex bureaus where you can exchange most major currencies such as US Dollars, British Pounds, Euros, etc.
